As of this morning the track of Hurricane Dorian appears to be slowly heading toward the North Carolina coast. The path of hurricanes can be unpredictable, so it is hard to definitively say how the Chapel Hill area will be affected at this point. Downed trees, utility outages and water intrusion to buildings are always a possibility with severe weather. Now is the time to review your adverse weather preparedness checklist! Many of our staff have already started preparing our campus for the possible winds and rain we may receive.

Reference the Adverse Weather Emergency Guide for items to think about before, during and after severe weather occurs.

Follow Alert Carolina for up-to-date information on general campus emergency information and register your cell phone to receive text messages about emergencies from the University. Further informational messages will be sent to the campus community this week as needed. You can also download LiveSafe, the University’s emergency safety app.
