Arrrr ye ready for an adventure, matey? Pirates are about to drop anchor in the Pit for the TARRR Heel Preparedness Festival! Anyone can get caught off-guard in a critical situation, but the key to tackling any emergency is all about being prepared.

Forget the treasure! Do you have an emergency kit equipped for short-term survival? Have you created an emergency plan with your roommates? Are you familiar with basic first aid procedures and fire extinguishing techniques?

Learn how to prepare yourself and your crew for unforeseen emergencies at the TARRR Heel Preparedness Festival taking place in the Pit on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campus departments, student groups, local partners and pirates will be on-site to provide information and resources on emergency preparedness for the Carolina community.

Participants will have an opportunity to engage in hands-on demonstrations, including proper use of a fire extinguisher, CPR techniques and learning the basics of bleeding control through the Stop the Bleed program.

In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be held in the Great Hall in the Frank Porter Graham Student Union.
